• Shower, gently exfoliate, and remove unwanted body hair 24 to 8 hours before your tanning session.
• Skin should be clean and dry before being sprayed. Don’t apply moisturizer, deodorant, antiperspirant, oils or make-up before your appointment.
• Avoid waxing, dermabrasion and facials within 24 hours before treatment. Manicures and pedicures are fine but not recommended on the same day.
• Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing and loose socks or flip-flops.
• Style your hair in ponytail (away from your face and neck).
• You will not be able to bath/shower for 3 to 6 hours after spray tanning, depending on which solution you choose.
• If it is raining, bring an umbrella with you!
• If tanning prior to your spray session, be sure never to use any lotions that contain silicone, as they will prevent the spray from absorbing. This is also true for silicone-based moisturizers.
• Staff can help with any questions you have.

• Wear dark, loose clothing while tan develops; nothing tight that doesn’t breath.
• Try not to rub or touch your skin during the first half hour of development time as this may interfere with your perfect results.
• Avoid wearing socks or shoes after your tanning session as sweating and constriction can inhibit the development of your tan. Flip-flops are a good choice.
• Do not apply moisturizers or deodorants until after you shower.
• Avoid getting wet! No showering, rain, sweating, or any exposure to water for four (3) to six (6) hours depending on whether or not you chose a regular or rapid-developing solution.
• After the specified time, shower normally but don’t use exfoliants.
• Wash with mild shower gel; preferably one that is sulphate-free or one that does not have sodium lauryl sulphate on the ingredients list.
• Pat, don’t rub skin dry.
• Don’t shave until 12 hours after your treatment.
• Avoid swimming or exercising until the next day.
• Avoid jacuzzi, hot tubs, chlorine, and very long hot showers.
• Avoid exfoliating. Scrubbing your skin will shorten the life of your tan.

When you take a shower or a bath you might see some colour wash off. Don’t worry! This is quite normal. Your tan will continue to develop for the next 24-36 hours.

The following products can lighten or make your tan uneven:

• AHA products (alpha hydroxy acids)
• Anti-acne products that exfoliate and dry skin (antibiotics)
• Anti-aging products that “renew” the skin (retinoids)
• Bar soaps or soaps containing sulfates
• BHA products (beta hydroxy acids)
• Body hair bleach products
• Bug spray, perfumes, body sprays when applied directly to the skin (spray clothing instead, if possible)
• Facial masks and exfoliating scrubs
• Hair inhibiting lotions
• Heavy sweating
• Eye makeup removers (the waterproof kind)
• Pat your skin dry after your showers: don’t rub!
• Waxing or hair removal (do this one day prior to tan)
• Note that a woman’s tan may develop differently during her various hormonal changes (menstruation, ovulation, pregnancy). Adding the pH balancing prep spray to your spray tan can help avoid any inconsistent results.

No! In the past, drug-store self-tanners and hand-held spray tanning systems gave many individuals an unnatural orange glow and caused streaking. Most of these undesirable results were caused by improper or ineffective application techniques producing excessive amounts being absorbed unevenly in the skin. Unnatural dark spots may also appear in dry or thick skinned areas such as elbows, knees, and knuckles because these areas have a tendency to absorb more of the cream.

On average, a sunless tan will last 5 to 7 days. The longevity of a VersaSpa PRO Sunless Tan depends on your skin’s natural exfoliation process and on the skin regimen followed before and after application. For more detailed information on this, click HERE.

The faster your skin regenerates, the faster the sunless tan will fade. The VersaSpa PRO tan is created by DHA and Erythulose, and affects only the top layer of the skin. It will begin to fade after 5 to 7 days as the skin naturally begins to exfoliate. It is important to keep skin moisturized after your VersaSpa PRO session as dry, flaky skin will slough off faster and colour will fade sooner. Tropical Sunsations offers a variety of tan-extending products that help hydrate skin and maintain even, natural-looking colour, longer.

From beginning to end, the entire process, including change and dry time, takes approximately 10 minutes. The spray itself takes approximately 1-3 minutes, depending on which combination of sprays you choose.

Your skin’s colour change is very gradual and although you will see results within the first several hours, the solution develops for 12-24 hours after you complete your session. Most people are at their darkest in a day.

This highly recommended solution can be sprayed onto your whole body prior to the bronzing solution. It works to create an even canvas for the colour to go on by balancing your skin’s pH level and dispersing the natural oils present on the skin. It prepares your skin to absorb as much of the bronzing solution as possible. With it your tan looks more natural, lasts longer, and fades more evenly.

Although you should use a moisturizing tan extender regularly to keep your skin hydrated and healthy, it is NOT recommended to apply moisturizers prior to your VersaSpa PRO session and at least 6 hours after.

It’s best to wait 4-6 hours after the spray tan before showering. Waiting longer is fine but it is not recommended that you sleep in the solution. We cannot guarantee the results if you do so.

Absolutely! In fact, the VersaSpa PRO Sunless tanning results are phenomenal over a nice base tan. When you combine both applications in a single visit we call it the “Double Dip”. You can also use a sample of Cocktail Sunless Lotion, which is formulated to enhance both UV and Sunless tanning treatments.

Yes. You want to avoid using ANY lotions with ‘Silicone’ as an ingredient, as this will prevent the VersaSpa PRO from adhering properly to your skin. If you are unsure whether or not your lotion contains silicone, please ask one of our tanning counsellors.

We offer two different tanning solutions. The solution that has instant bronzers in it can rub off on your clothes, but it does not stain. When you take your first shower, you will see the solution wash off (this is normal) but the real tan stays. There are some fabrics such as silk, nylon and especially leather that this may not wash out of, so caution is always recommended.

If this is a concern, we also offer a clear solution with no cosmetic bronzers. It’s great for bridal parties and special events, as well as clients with acne prone skin. Clear solutions are used as an alternative for spray sessions done for formals, as it is completely invisible and will not damage fabric.

No. Although you may feel and look like you have a real tan, a sunless tan is only the temporary appearance of a tan and therefore provides your skin with no real sunburn protection.

No you do not. You simply keep your eyes closed whenever you are sprayed above the shoulders.

The solution is 70% natural, comprising of a sugar cane derivative, which is responsible for your glorious colour. All of the components have been used in cosmetics and food products for decades. They are approved for use on the skin and are considered safe for all skin types. If you have any serious allergies or concerns, it is always wise to ask your doctor.

No, spray tan solution does not affect your hair. For your convenience however, we provide you with a disposable shower cap to prevent it from getting wet.

It is recommended to avoid any chlorinated water such as pools or hot tubs, as this will result in the solution bleaching out of your skin and your tan fading faster. If you do wish to use a pool or a hot tub, do so only 24 hours after receiving your spray tan and remember to rinse off the chlorine as soon as you get out.

Yes. Shaving causes expedited exfoliation of your skin, which is turn will cause your spray tan to be removed sooner. It’s for this reason that we recommended shaving and exfoliating prior to your session to prolong the spray tan as much as possible.

The VersaSpa has an extremely fine mist (the finest in the industry), which evenly showers you in the bronzing solution. The machine also blow dries you after each application. No rubbing or patting is needed. This ensures no streaking or blotching and leaves you with a flawless tan free of drips!

Since it takes a full 24 hours for your tan to develop, we recommend coming in a full day or two before your special event to have your VersaSpa PRO session.

VersaSpa PRO is an open concept machine. There are no doors to close on you, and you do not feel restricted or claustrophobic while doing your session. There are exhaust fans which draw in the excess solution so you do not have to breathe it in, as well as an infrared heater to keep you warm as you are sprayed.

If you wish to be much darker, the following should be noted: the VersaSpa PRO solution takes up to 24 hours to fully develop on your skin after your session is completed. For this reason, it is recommended that you only do one VersaSpa PRO in a 48 hour period.

The VersaSpa PRO is a private spray booth with a voice guidance system in which you stand alone. Staff gives you a full orientation and then leaves. No one is in the booth or the room with you while you do your actual spray tan.

Unlike regular tanning, freckles will not show or be enhanced by the VersaSpa PRO bronzing solution. On the contrary, it gives your skin a more even look—flawless!

Yes. The VersaSpa PRO will give flawless tanning results on all skin types.

You may wear a bathing suit, undergarments, or simply go nude while in the VersaSpa PRO.

Yes, we offer three levels of darkness. Our lightest colour is Level 1, which gives you just a hint of colour. This is best suited for tanners who have very pale skin.  Level 2 (our most popular) is for a sun-kissed glow. And our darkest colour is Level 3, which gives you a deep, dark, rich bronzed tan. Each skin type darkens and reacts differently to each solution level.

The VersaSpa PRO can go through makeup. But to ensure the perfect tan, it’s recommended that you begin your session with all over clean skin and wait at least 6 hours before putting on any makeup.
